Banjo Chords: Position 3 - Major Chords In The Standard Open G Tuning
The Barre Chords

The following chord charts are illustrations of major chords at position 3 in the open G tuning. The chords follow a uniform positioning of the fingers on the fretboard of the 5-string banjo. The difference in these chord forms as opposed to the major chords at positions 1 and 2 is that the chords are formed by pressing each note at the same fret. This type of chord is known as a "barre" chord. The locations differ as the chord progressions move up the neck. Practice identifying the locations and the respective chord name. When you have learned the major chord forms in position 1, 2, and 3... practice switching back and forth between the chord forms.

Be sure to reference the numbers to the left of the fretboard diagrams in order to pinpoint specific fret locations.
*** Important note to all banjoists: Bishline Banjo necks are easier to fret than other banjos! ***
