Banjo Chords: Position 3 - 7th Chords In The Standard Open G Tuning
The following chord charts are illustrations of 7th chords at position 3 in the open G tuning. The chords follow a uniform positioning of the fingers on the fretboard of the 5-string banjo. Notice the unique placement of the fingers in forming the 7th position 3 chords. The index finger depresses the first and second strings on the corresponding fret, the middle finger depresses string 3 on the next fret up, and the ring finger depresses string 4 on the second fret up. The note depressed on the fourth string is the root note. This pattern continues as it progresses up the fretboard. The locations differ as the chord progressions move up the neck. Practice identifying the locations and the respective chord name.
Be sure to reference the numbers to the left of the fretboard diagrams in order to pinpoint specific fret locations.
*** Important note to all banjoists: Bishline Banjo necks are easier to fret than other banjos! *** |
