Banjo Chords: Position 2 - 7th Chords In The Standard Open G Tuning
The following chord charts are illustrations of 7th chords at position 2 in the open G tuning. The chords follow a uniform positioning of the fingers on the fretboard of the 5-string banjo. Notice the unique placement of the fingers in forming the 7th position 2 chords. The index finger depresses the second string on the corresponding fret (root note), the middle finger and ring finger depress strings 4 and 1 on the next fret up and the pinky depresses string 3 on the second fret up. This pattern continues as it progresses up the fretboard. The locations differ as the chord progressions move up the neck. Practice identifying the locations and the respective chord name.
Be sure to reference the numbers to the left of the fretboard diagrams in order to pinpoint specific fret locations.
*** Important note to all banjoists: Bishline Banjo necks are easier to fret than other banjos! *** |
